Tableau Cloud 2026.1 features, including Office 365 App and more.

Tableau Cloud 2026.1 brings a native Office 365 app, AWS-backed extract encryption, and AI narratives in the Tableau Agent.

Part ofWhat's new in Tableau 2026.1
  • Tableau Server now ships on an alternating cadence, so 2026.1 features arrive on Server in 2026.2, and there is no standalone 2026.1 Server release.
  • A native Tableau app for Microsoft 365 lets you pull report visuals straight into PowerPoint slides and Word documents, though not Excel.
  • SCIM provisioning now supports the OpenID Connect (OIDC) protocol on top of SAML, broadening cross-domain identity management options.
  • External key management for extracts integrates with AWS KMS so you control the encryption keys protecting your extract files.
  • Disabling duplicate custom view names blocks clashing names with inline alerts, making custom views reliably linkable in large enterprise environments.

Covering Tableau Cloud 2026.1 updates (and clarifying there’s no Tableau Server release for 26.1 due to an alternating Server cadence). Highlights include web authoring rounded corners, expanded accessibility support and keyboard navigation, and image export improvements so dashboards with extensions render correctly in exports, subscriptions, and thumbnails. Introduces the Tableau app for Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint and Word) to pull Tableau visuals into documents. Admin and security updates include SCIM support extended beyond SAML to OpenID Connect (OIDC), external key management for extracts via AWS KMS, and blocking duplicate custom view names with inline overwrite alerts. Data/connectivity updates include Bring Your Own Connector (pilot) for custom drivers in Tableau Cloud, the REST API connector, Google Looker connector, an updated Amazon S3 connector (CSV/Parquet), and OAuth for Cloudera Impala (pilot). Platform monitoring improvements cover Tableau Bridge client status in the Activity Log and improved Bridge job monitoring to distinguish local Bridge jobs vs Cloud Backgrounder. Also notes Tableau Agent dashboard narratives (beta) requiring Tableau AI, and that Tableau Prep features and Tableau Pulse updates will be covered in separate upcoming videos.
