Who's responsible

just-tim is run by TN Media Limited, United Kingdom. We are the “data controller” for the information described here. For anything about your data, email [email protected].

What I collect, and why

If you subscribe to The Drilldown — your email address, so I can send you the newsletter and nothing else. It's handled by beehiiv, my email provider. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.

If you email me (for example the addresses on the contact page) — I receive your email address and whatever you write, so I can reply. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in responding to you. There are no forms on the site that collect your details beyond the newsletter box.

When you simply visit — my host, Cloudflare, processes basic technical data such as your IP address and browser type to serve the site securely and keep it online. Legal basis: legitimate interest in security and delivery. I also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is anonymous and cookieless: it gives me aggregate visit counts with no way to identify you.

When you play a video — videos are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced (“no-cookie”) mode. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play; once you do, YouTube (Google) receives your IP address and device information under its own privacy policy. Video thumbnails are also loaded from Google's servers when a page opens. What Google does with that is governed by Google's privacy policy.

Who it's shared with

I don't sell your data or share it for anyone else's marketing. It's only ever handled by the providers that make the site work:

• beehiiv — sends and manages the newsletter (United States).
• Cloudflare — hosts the site, keeps it secure, and provides the anonymous analytics.
• Google / YouTube — serves the embedded videos and thumbnails (United States), under Google's own policy.

Outside the UK: beehiiv and Google are based in the United States. Where your data is handled outside the UK, it's protected by those providers' standard data-protection safeguards (such as the UK/EU standard contractual clauses in their data-processing terms).

Cookies & what's stored on your device

This site sets no cookies. The only thing kept on your device is your display preferences — light or dark mode, texture, and which notices you've dismissed — held in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and isn't used to track you. That's why there's no cookie banner; there's a fuller explanation on the how this site works page.

How long it's kept

• Newsletter email: until you unsubscribe, after which it's removed from the active list.
• Emails you send me: for as long as needed to deal with your message, then cleared periodically.
• Analytics: aggregate and anonymous, so there's nothing personal to keep.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the data I hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how it's used, receive a copy to take elsewhere, or withdraw your consent. Just email [email protected] and I'll sort it out.

If you're ever unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — though I'd genuinely appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Children

The site is aimed at a professional audience, not children, and I don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

I may update this notice as the site evolves. The “last updated” date at the top always shows the current version, and I'll flag anything significant.
