Changelog

The site is rebuilt and growing in the open. Here is what has shipped, newest first.

Designed, built and shipped by Tim — start to finish, in Claude Design and Claude Code. No agency, no template, no team.

Built in public

Every change below is a commit. The full source — the site, the content pipeline and the scripts — is going public as a GitHub repo soon.

v1.9

The Rollup, and a site that explains itself

  • NewThe Rollup. Every video now opens to a short, structured read of what's in it — the point, a timestamped breakdown you can click to jump the video, the gotchas, and when you'd actually reach for it. Drafted from the video's own transcript and edited by me, so you can get the gist in a couple of minutes or watch the full thing.
  • NewA "How this site works" page that lays out the whole site in one place — Rollups, the Drilldown, cinema mode, search, collections and platform hubs. Small info icons dotted around the site hover for a quick explainer and link straight to the relevant part.
  • NewA plain-English privacy page, and an honest note on why there's no cookie banner: no cookies, no trackers, and no social share buttons (a common way trackers sneak onto a page).
  • BetterSearch now reaches the whole site — platform pages, the standing pages and the home page, not just posts — so searching a concept turns up everything that touches it.
  • FixFixed the watch times on a batch of longer videos that were reading wildly wrong — a 26-minute video claiming to be 26 hours.

v1.8

Courses, a welcome, and a fresh About

  • NewA Courses page. Everything I teach in one place: my LinkedIn Learning courses (free if you have LinkedIn Premium) and the YouTube playlists, plus a first look at n1d.io, the course platform I'm building.
  • NewFirst-time visitors now get a short welcome note explaining the move from Tableau Tim to just-tim. It only ever shows once, and there's a reset in the settings menu if you want it back.
  • BetterRebuilt the About page. The intro sits over the photo now, and there's a proper career timeline you can scroll through, with each role sized by how long it actually lasted.
  • BetterGave the writing a once-over across the site, including the Tableau and Courses pages.
  • FixFixed a batch of phone layout glitches. The RSS feeds page and a few others were spilling off the side of the screen.

v1.7

Live on just-tim.com

  • NewWe're live. The whole library now sits at just-tim.com, and every old tableautim.com link sends you straight to its new home, so a decade of bookmarks and search results still work.
  • BetterEvery tool now shows its real logo, on cards, platform pages and feeds. Tools without an official mark get a clean lettered badge instead.
  • BetterTidied up the post cards. The platform is just its logo in the corner with the name sliding out when you hover, and you can click the thumbnail, not only the title, to open a post.
  • FixEach post now shows the tool it's really about, instead of whichever one happened to come first alphabetically.

v1.6

Feeds, and a home for the newsletter

  • NewRSS is back: one feed for everything, a feed for each platform, and one for the newsletter, all on a new Feeds page that shows you how to follow just the slice you want.
  • NewEvery platform page now has a "Fresh from the source" panel that pulls in that tool's own latest news and videos, so the page is useful even before I've made something about it.
  • NewThe Drilldown got a proper home, with a subscribe panel, the latest issues up top, and an archive by year.
  • BetterRedesigned the Platforms page as brand-coloured cards you can filter by what the tool does, with breakout cards for sub-tools like Tableau Prep and Power Query.
  • FixThe newsletter feed now says it runs about three weeks behind the email, and points you to subscribe by email if you want it sooner.

v1.5

A page for every platform

  • NewTen co-branded platform pages, each in the partner's own colours, with dbt and Power BI joining the set.
  • NewEvery platform page maps out that tool's actual products (for Tableau that's Desktop, Cloud, Prep, Pulse, Next and Public), each linking to my posts on it.
  • BetterRebuilt Collections, grouped by what they are (releases, events and series) with the newest ones featured up top.
  • FixRecoloured ThoughtSpot and Alteryx to their real brand colours, so their pages stop looking like just-tim's own.

v1.4

Search, themes and drafts

  • NewSite-wide search: a box in the top bar and a full page, with filters by type and platform. It's instant, runs in your browser, and tracks nothing.
  • NewA settings menu in the top bar: system, light or dark theme, plus the background texture and pattern. It remembers your choice between visits.
  • NewDraft previews, so I can write and review a post privately before it ever shows up live.
  • BetterA safer library: posts I've edited by hand are protected, so the tools that pull in new videos and view counts never overwrite my own words.

v1.3

Real numbers, sharper home page

  • NewPulled real YouTube view counts onto every video. They also quietly help decide what gets featured, so the popular work rises to the top on its own.
  • BetterReworked the top of the home page: a hero that leads with what I do now, the dark stats band, and a row of platform shortcuts.
  • BetterMoved view counts off the cards to cut the clutter; on a post itself, a small YouTube icon shows the count.

v1.2

A new shell

  • BetterRenamed Tutorials to Posts and Courses to Collections, and rebuilt the navigation around a Platforms menu and The Drilldown.
  • BetterRebuilt the post page: a tidy eyebrow, a byline with read and watch time, a tabbed takeaways panel, and chapter headings you can tap to jump the video to that moment.
  • BetterFolded the old Social page into a fuller About, and switched to one consistent set of icons throughout.

v1.0

The rebuild

  • NewMoved off Webflow. The site is rebuilt from scratch on Astro, and all 600-plus videos, articles and guides now live in one place.
  • NewA pipeline that turns a talk or screencast into a written post: it transcribes the video on my own machine, drafts the post, adds screenshots or pull-quotes, and links every heading to the exact moment in the video.
  • BetterGave the whole library a clean-up: removed duplicates, restored the real publish dates, and separated Shorts from full-length videos.
  • NewMade the site easy for search engines and AI assistants to read, with a sitemap, an llms.txt index and structured data.
  • NewSet up redirects from every old Webflow address, so nothing that's already linked or bookmarked breaks.
