1:22Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Ben
1:26and Kristen Fink.
1:27[Applause]
1:31Welcome back! Welcome back! Is it afternoon
1:35?
1:36What a week it's been! In so many ways!
1:41Thank you all for being here and being part
1:43of this incredible community.
1:45We really appreciate it. And again, what a
1:47week we've had together.
1:48Education, learning, inspiration, fun, just
1:51all kinds of great stuff.
1:53[Music]
1:59Look behind you there, Sam! You show from
2:02your feet and there's a lot more.
2:04Dig holes. I'm not sure why, but dig holes.
2:07And there's more Sam!
2:10Everywhere! And I remember thinking, "This
2:13is just impossible!"
2:15And then there was spacecraft flying and I
2:16didn't have the ignition space engine.
2:19Mercury, Gemini, and the other astronauts.
2:22Maybe they'll see me.
2:23You know, if I wave my hands, look at that
2:26picture. No! No!

2:59So, that's it. Conference is up. It's done.
3:05I'm about to head home.
3:07It's going to be a very long journey back.
3:10I've got tons of vlogging editing to do.
3:13But, yeah, it's been an amazing conference.
3:15Absolutely loved it.
3:17Can't wait to go to Vegas again next year.
3:20Fingers crossed.
3:22I'll be back here for the fourth conference
3:25. It's been absolutely amazing.
3:28Awesome to see all friends, community, devs
3:33, Tableau staff.
3:35Literally everyone is here. Vendors,
3:38partners, lots of colleagues, and
3:41absolutely great speakers.
3:42It's been absolutely amazing.

4:23So, that's it. That was the last day of
4:25conference. Yeah.
4:28The last day is normally quite weird. You
4:30see, it's a bit like the first day.
4:32Everyone knows it's the end. In fact, some
4:34people already start leaving.
4:36And it's mostly an opportunity to say
4:38goodbye to people in the community.
4:42For some people, we only get a chance to
4:44meet each other and talk about Tableau once
4:47a year at conference.
4:48As I said, Tableau is a platform, and this
4:50is one of the only platforms you can meet
4:52everyone in one place.
4:54In terms of today, the keynote was great.
4:57Bill Nye was absolutely amazing on stage.
4:59It's really funny. I managed to get up to
5:00the front today, which is excellent.
5:03I queued a little bit to get there. I'm a
5:05big science buff. I listen to Neil deGrasse
5:07Tyson and Bill Nye on Space Talk all the
5:10time.
5:11So, it was great just to be there at the
5:13front. Very, very close. It was amazing.
5:16Also, I love the topic he talked about. It
5:18was really cool to see how curiosity can
5:21help drive innovation.
5:23And also, just to hear him talk about the
5:25challenges society has to face and how data
5:28can help drive those changes.
5:31And I think he just sort of joined the dots
5:33for me in terms of my thinking about the
5:36impact we as data visualization experts or
5:40people can have.
5:43I went to Fanalytics. That was a really
5:45cool event.
5:46It was organized by the Tableau Public team
5:49and a couple of guys and girls from the
5:52community gave a presentation about what
5:55drives their passion to build visual
5:57izations.
5:58And it was kind of a cool way to end the
5:59conference. It was really nice to just sit
6:02down.
6:03You know, Tableau Public is a community
6:04thing, so it was great to sit in a
6:06community context and just basically enjoy
6:10conference for the last time.
6:13I didn't get involved in the activity, but
6:15I used it as an opportunity to sort of
6:17network a little bit more and meet some new
6:20people, but also say farewell to others.
6:24So, that's it. I think most people start
6:26leaving for home around about today.
6:29I'm actually leaving tomorrow. I'm leaving
6:31on Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock.
6:33So, I'm pretty much going to spend the rest
6:35of my time here catching up with this vlog,
6:38editing all these clips and getting them
6:40out there.
6:41So that if you haven't had a chance to
6:42watch them, you can watch them in the
6:45coming days.
6:46But if you have watched them, you've still
6:48got some stuff to continue watching.
6:50So, that's been conference. That's it.
6:53When I get back to the UK, I'll have a
6:55session to reflect on the whole conference
6:58as a whole.
6:59I think you have to allow a little bit of
7:01time for the conference to settle in your
7:03mind before you do that.
7:05And what I'll also try and do is I'll do a
7:07supercut.
7:09So, I've been recording tons and tons and
7:11tons of footage, most of which I haven't
7:13used.
7:14The way these things work is for every
7:16minute you see, there's about two hours
7:19worth of effort in terms of footage or
7:22editing.
7:23So, there's loads of stuff that I think is
7:25great that I'd love you to see.
7:27And I'm just going to put it all in one
7:28clip and have this sort of supercut reel of
7:31the whole conference.
7:33Before I leave Austin, I hope you've
7:35enjoyed the vlog series.
7:38It was sort of an experiment for me. I love
7:40making videos. I love making stuff.
7:43And these seemed like a really focused
7:45thing that I could put my effort into
7:48whilst also doing something I was enjoying.
7:51So, I'd be really curious to know your
7:53thoughts on how it's all gone.
7:55Please subscribe if you like what you're
7:57seeing.
7:58When I get back to the UK, I'm probably
7:59going to go back to some more video
8:01tutorials.
8:02It's difficult to see how a vlog would work
8:04, but if you've got ideas, let me know.
8:08Otherwise, that's it. That's it for this v
8:11log.
