Table Extensions code editor | New in Tableau 2023.1

The table extensions code editor in 2023.1 finally gives you real syntax highlighting, a mini map and a command palette.

Part ofWhat's new in Tableau 2023.1
  • In 22.4 the table extensions editor applied no syntax highlighting to pasted code, whereas 2023.1 adds proper formatting and line numbers
  • Right-clicking in the editor lets you set the language to JavaScript, plain text, Python or R for correct syntax highlighting
  • A mini map on the right-hand side helps you navigate long blocks of code quickly
  • A built-in command palette makes troubleshooting and fixing bugs within the editor easier

The table extensions code editor now has an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The Table Extensions code editor allows you to set your preferred coding language (R, Python, Javascript or plain text), offers syntax highlighting, code formatting and a command palette to your Table Extensions in Desktop, Server and Cloud. Tableau has also added visual treatment for unique Tableau keywords, such as “input tables”, to give a clear understanding of how your code references your data.
