0:00Hey, it's Tim here. In 22.4, you can now
0:02replace a data source for a specific sheet
0:05only rather
0:06than the entire data source. Let's find out
0:08how to do that. Let's get started. Before
0:10we get stuck in,
0:10just one quick favor. 82% of the people
0:13watching this video in the last year aren't
0:16subscribed to
0:17the channel. And just to show you some
0:19context, nearly half of my subscribers came
0:21from this last
0:22year's worth of content. And if you look at
0:24how many views and how much time people are
0:25spending,
0:26I'm sure it's creating value somewhere. So
0:28if you really appreciate the content or
0:29would like to see
0:30even more of it at a better higher quality
0:32standard, hit the sub button and enjoy the
0:34rest
0:35of the video. So I'm here, I'm using a work
0:37book or a sheet that I've been using to
0:39showcase a couple
0:40of the features in 22.4, specifically the
0:42proper function and also the image rolls.
0:45Check out those
0:45videos. But here I am, I have a specific
0:48table built out. And you can see here that
0:51the product
0:52name field had an error when I was
0:53exporting the data set. What I'd like to do
0:56is swap in the
0:57correct data source, but I don't want to
0:59affect the entire workbook. If I go back to
1:01my first
1:01sheet here, you'll see that I've actually
1:03got an issue here with image rolls not
1:04loading. But you
1:05can see I don't want this sheet to be
1:07interfered with. In essence, I'm happy to
1:09have two data
1:10sources in my workbook, but I just want to
1:12replace the second sheet with that data
1:14source. And you can
1:16know when they're replaced because when you
1:17're using an active data source, you can see
1:18there's
1:19a little tick mark to tell you that this
1:21sheet is using that data source. And so
1:22when I go between
1:23these sheets, you can see that they're both
1:26using the top one. For this sheet, we're
1:28going to go
1:28ahead and change that. So let's go ahead.
1:30And what I'm going to do is right click on
1:32this data source,
1:33go down and you can see there's an option
1:35here to replace the data source. Let's go
1:37ahead and click
1:37that. And you can see here immediately
1:39there's this option here to replace the
1:41current worksheet
1:42only. So the current worksheet is the one
1:44that I'm specifically in when I select this
1:47option. So if I
1:48go back, I'll select replace worksheet only
1:50. And what I want to do is replace sample
1:52data with
1:53sample data version two, select OK. And you
1:56'll see that everything goes wild because
1:59essentially,
1:59the whole data is actually different. So
2:02what I need to do is remove the avatar URL.
2:04And you'll
2:04see that now that works. Essentially, what
2:06happened is when I switched the data
2:07sources out, the
2:08filter that existed before didn't work. Now
2:10the filter has been removed, everything is
2:12working
2:12great. And you can see that this sheet is
2:15using the second data source, specifically
2:17version two.
2:18Now, the real test is what happens when I
2:20go to the first sheet. Well, that's still
2:23using the
2:23first data set over here. So that's a
2:25really powerful feature. If you just want
2:27to test
2:27something, make sure something is not
2:29broken, bring in a second version of the
2:30data, maybe even
2:31have the two sheets side by side for
2:33whatever reason, because you're trying to
2:35troubleshoot,
2:35this is going to be a super handy feature.
2:37It's another quality of life improvement I
2:39'm really
2:40happy to see in Tableau. And I just love
2:42the big focus at the moment going on on
2:44these kind of
2:45small but really useful things inside of
2:47the product. That's pretty much it for the
2:49video.
2:50Be sure to check out everything else in
2:51this playlist for everything new in 22.4.
2:54And I'll catch you in the next video.
