Let end-users show and hide filters and more with this extension | What's new Tableau 2022.3

It sounds like a way for users to add new filters, but dig in and it's really a show-and-hide element extension that's missing that bit of delight.

Part ofWhat's new in Tableau 2022.3
  • The Add Filters extension only lets end-users show and hide filters, sheets and other dashboard elements that already exist on the dashboard — it can't pull new filters from the data source.
  • Extensions are configured after being dragged on: use the object's drop-down and select Configure to choose which filters, sheets and elements users can toggle.
  • To set up a hide-by-default workflow, the author must add filters, configure the extension, then disable them so end-users can re-add them.
  • The consumer interface only shows icons with no hierarchy or labels, so non-author users won't recognise the tiled, filter or title icons.
  • Sandbox extensions are validated by Tableau and don't need to communicate with the outside world, making them more secure than the original non-sandboxed extensions.

The Add filters extension is a strange one. On one hand it does exactly what it says on the tin but on the other it does alot more and the way an author uses it suggests it actually has an entirely different set of capabilities that starts to look like Zone Visibility.Tableau Release NotesThe Add Filters Extension lets dashboard authors customise which filters are visible on a dashboard. Empower dashboard consumers to customise the dashboard by adding filters that meet specific needs. It aids in faster exploration of data without the need to contact the original author to drive change requests for adding desired filters to the dashboard and reduces the visual clutter of irrelevant filters.Add Filters is an object that authors add to their dashboards, which then opens up this new capability for consumers. Once end-users have a filter configuration that suits their needs, they can create a custom view to save their work.Join this channel to get access to perks:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7HYxRWmaNlJux-X7rNLZyw/join#tableau #salesforce #analytics #dataFollow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TableauTim My recording gear & what’s on my desk. https://kit.co/TableauTim/desk-setup My website: https://www.tableautim.com/ My Screen Annotation Tool: https://j.mp/3HWc4MjMy technology Channel: https://j.mp/3F0d28fShare feedback and Suggestions: https://tableautim.canny.io/suggestions
