How to change language in all Tableau Products - New in Tableau 2022.2

0:00In 22.2 there's a new product language,

0:02French Canadian.

0:03And so I thought in this video,

0:04what I'd do is show you how to change your

0:06product language

0:07across all versions of Tableau,

0:08whether it's Tableau prep, Tableau desktop,

0:11Tableau server or Tableau cloud.

0:13Let's get stuck in.

0:15So we're here in Tableau desktop.

0:16Let's start off with that first.

0:18You can actually do this pretty much any

0:20time in the product.

0:21The thing to bear in mind is when you do,

0:23it does close the product and open it up

0:24again.

0:25So just bear that in mind to do it

0:26when you've opened a workbook,

0:27not whilst you've got something going on.

0:29Just go up to the top menu here, select

0:31help,

0:32go down to choose language

0:33and you have your list of product languages

0:35.

0:35And as I said before, once you select one

0:37of these,

0:38it will ask you if you're sure

0:39and it will close Tableau and open it with

0:41that language,

0:41fully loaded up and across the entire

0:43product level.

0:44Okay, so that's Tableau desktop.

0:46Let's try the same thing inside of Tableau

0:49server

0:49and Tableau cloud.

0:51Now here, what you need to do is go to your

0:52settings

0:53and this is actually sometimes a little bit

0:54tricky to find.

0:55So let me go to the homepage

0:56and just show you how I got there.

0:58Let me open up my annotation tools

0:59and what I normally do is I always go up

1:01here

1:01to the top right hand side,

1:02just where you can see a profile icon.

1:04Go ahead, click on that face,

1:06you'll see you get a short menu,

1:08go to my account settings and when you get

1:10there,

1:10you get this page,

1:11which pretty much summarizes all your

1:13account settings.

1:13And you want to make sure

1:15that you're on this tab specifically,

1:17the one that says setting.

1:18I'm just gonna highlight that again.

1:20And once you're there,

1:21if you scroll down a little bit past a few

1:23of the settings,

1:24you'll reach an area called language and

1:26region

1:26right here at the bottom.

1:27And again, there you can choose your

1:29language

1:29and locale.

1:30If you just go ahead and select that,

1:31you'll see the dropdown for the different

1:33product languages,

1:34but also the locale supports slightly

1:37different setups.

1:38This can include things like number

1:40formatting

1:40specific to that locale as well.

1:42So you can set your language to one thing

1:44and your locale to something else as well,

1:45if that's something that suits you,

1:47as well as your time zone.

1:48I'm actually using a beta server here,

1:50so it is set to the American time zone,

1:52but nonetheless, that's where you can do

1:54that too.

1:55The very last place is Tableau Prep.

1:57Now here, it's very similar to Tableau

1:58Desktop.

1:59Make sure the product's selected.

2:00Don't do this while you've got something

2:02open.

2:02Go out to the top, select help,

2:04and here you'll see again a choose language

2:06option.

2:06Select the language you want.

2:08And when you do that, it will close Tableau

2:10and open it again with that language loaded

2:11up

2:12as the default.

2:13So that's how to change your language.

2:14French Canadian is new in 22.2.

2:16So enjoy that language,

2:18if that's something that's gonna be useful
