  • Tableau Public (Desktop and Web Authoring) now has access to the viz extension gallery as of 2024.3
  • Uploading a file in Tableau Public automatically creates an extract rather than a live connection
  • Extensions from third parties like Ladataviz and InfoTopics appear alongside Tableau's own built extensions
  • Not all extensions in the gallery actually work on Tableau Public yet - the Tableau Table extension shows as unsupported despite being listed
  • The Sankey extension works and can be built using category, subcategory, region and sales fields for link and level

In this video, I dive into the new features available in Tableau Public Desktop Edition and Tableau Public Web. You can now access the extension gallery directly within the product to explore new visualization types. I walk you through the process of connecting to data, explore the new vis extension gallery, showcasing some of the amazing extensions available. However, I also highlight some limitations, such as certain extensions not being fully supported yet. Join me as I navigate these new features and provide insights on how to make the most out of Tableau Public. ‍ Timestamps 0:00 Intro 0:14 Context 1:40  Extensions ‍
