For twelve years I have built dashboards, broken them, migrated between every major platform and learned which promises hold up. just-tim is where I share the honest version, the bit the vendors leave out.
It started as a side channel explaining Tableau the way I wished someone had explained it to me. Twelve years on, that has grown into more than six hundred videos, articles and guides, and a community of people who do the actual work. I left the “Tableau Tim” name behind because the tools kept changing and the curiosity did not. The point was never one platform. It was always making the complicated stuff make sense.
From analyst, to consultant, to full-time creator. The long view on a fast-moving field.
Consulted for insurance, consumer goods, manufacturing, entertainment, and pharma amongst other industries.
Videos, deep-dive articles, tutorials and guides, all in one place.
Recognised five years running, back when the channel was still called Tableau Tim.
The Salesforce community honour, handed to a few people on the keynote stage.
Analysts, engineers and leaders who would rather have the honest take than the hype.
I have no horse in the race. If a tool is the right one for the job I will say so, and if it is not, I will say that too.
Real datasets, real edge cases, real mistakes. No toy examples that fall apart the moment you try them on your own data.
A hot take is fine as long as you know it is one. I separate what the tool does from what I think about it.
Tableau, Power BI, Hex, Looker and the new AI-native challengers.
The unglamorous layer that decides whether the dashboard is any good.
Pricing games, acquisitions and roadmaps, with my read on what they mean.
Career, workflow and the soft skills nobody puts in a release note.
