Personal access tokens replace your username and password with a token plus a secret, offering a more secure way to authenticate against the Tableau REST API
In Tableau 23.2, admins can control which groups are allowed to create personal access tokens
Admins can now set an expiration date for each individual token created

0:12use these when working with a Tableau REST

0:14In 23.2 Tableau have added the ability to
0:17control these so now admins can come in
0:20here and decide
0:21which groups can do this but also set an
0:24expiration date for each and every token
0:26created.
With this update, Site admins can now control who has the ability to create PATs (Personal access tokens) in Tableau, and they can now control how long PATs are valid, ranging from 1 to 365 days.
A Personal Access Token (PAT) is a type of authentication token that acts as an alternative to a traditional username and password for accessing specific services, especially web-based APIs.
