Improved view data pane: New in Tableau 2022.1

It's a small thing, but the new View Data interface in 2022.1 is a much, much nicer experience.

Part ofWhat's new in Tableau 2022.1
  • The new View Data interface in 2022.1 lets you reorder dimensions, and that order is preserved when you download the data as CSV or another file type
  • You can add fields from the full data source via Show Fields, or strip it back to just the fields you want for a simpler end-user view
  • Sorting ascending or descending reorders the entire underlying data source, not just the visible rows
  • With a data model, the summary view also exposes the individual underlying tables that built the summary, not just the row-level detail
  • End users on Tableau Server can customise the view themselves, and it respects existing security so people only see summary or granular data they're permitted to

Tableau release notes: Design exactly how you want to present the tabular data behind a visualisation within the View Data interface. Remove columns from the default view, change their order, sort them or add additional columns to provide deeper context. Additionally, you can download underlying data as a CSV file with all design changes applied to share with your team. Customising view data is available in Tableau Online, Tableau Server, and Tableau Desktop
